Connections

Each type of drill or saw often has a special connection, meaning not every drill bit or saw blade will fit in that machine. In addition, leading machine brands also have their own preferred connections. Below is an overview of the various connection types.

Cylindrical

The drills with a cylindrical connection have a smooth shank and are suitable for normal drills, not for SDS drills.

SDS

For light and medium-duty machines up to approximately 5 kg. The slots ensure a quick, secure click-fit without the need for a chuck. This connection prevents slippage during drilling. The notches in the SDS shaft also ensure optimal power transmission.

SDS-plus

The “Slotted Drive System” or “Special Direct System,” developed by Bosch in the 1970s for quick bit changes, is primarily used for drills with a pneumatic impact mechanism (lighter hammer drills). SDS plus is often used for drilling in concrete and other types of stone. With a shaft diameter of 10 mm.

SDS Max

Similar to the SDS-Plus, the SDS-Max has an extra slot and a wider shaft (shaft diameter: 18 mm). It’s often used for drilling larger holes and heavier drilling in concrete, in drills weighing 5 kg and with high power

Kango

For heavy-duty demolition hammers, this connection has a rectangular and hexagonal shaft. This system is not suitable for rotary hammers.

Quick Lock

Ideal for quick drill bit changes. No tools are required to change drill bits and bits.

Hexagon

For effortless drill and bit changes. The hexagonal connection ensures the drill bit is securely attached to the machine.
